Gramus is seeking an experienced and results-driven Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations of its pig farm. The successful candidate will manage livestock production, farm employees, animal health, feeding programmes, biosecurity, inventory and operational costs.

The Farm Manager will be expected to improve productivity, minimise animal mortality and ensure the farm operates safely, efficiently and profitably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate daily pig-farm operations.
  • Manage breeding, farrowing, weaning, feeding and animal-growth programmes.
  • Monitor livestock health, mortality rates and average market weight.
  • Maintain accurate records of births, deaths, treatments, feed consumption and livestock sales.
  • Implement and monitor farm biosecurity, hygiene and disease-prevention procedures.
  • Work with veterinary professionals to manage vaccinations, treatments and disease outbreaks.
  • Supervise farm workers and assign daily duties.
  • Monitor staff attendance, conduct and performance.
  • Manage feed, medication, equipment and other farm inventory.
  • Prepare and monitor farm operating budgets.
  • Control production costs and reduce unnecessary waste.
  • Ensure farm buildings, machinery and equipment are properly maintained.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly production and financial reports for management.
  • Ensure compliance with animal-welfare, environmental, health and safety requirements.
  • Recommend improvements to increase productivity and farm profitability.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Farm Management or a related field.
  • At least five years of relevant farm-management experience.
  • Practical experience managing pigs or other commercial livestock is strongly preferred.
  • Good knowledge of animal health, nutrition, breeding and biosecurity.
  • Experience supervising farm employees and managing daily work schedules.
  • Ability to maintain accurate livestock, inventory and financial records.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of farm budgeting and cost control.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel and other basic record-management systems.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays when necessary.
  • A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.
  • High levels of honesty, accountability and attention to detail.
