Skills and knowledge

• Ability to read engineering drawings and sketches
• operates the heavy Lathe machines and related machinery.
• Ability to do gears selection for threading & self-speed
• Knowledge of lathe machine tools & instruments.
• Have well knowledge in bearing size and finishing systems.
• Self-driven for progressive and continued learning and development.

Duties and responsibilities

• Operate the heavy-duty lathe machine.
• All types of thread cutting metric & imperial.
• Tool grinding and drill grinding according to the material specification.
• Follow Forman instruction according to the job card
• Ability to work as part of a team but also on own initiative.
• To be able to prioritise and work to given timescales.
• To ensure quality standards are met.
• Keep safe tools and instruments.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repair.

Requirements:

Grade 12 Certificate

Relevant Technical/Engineering Certificate – A recognised qualification in the related field (e.g., mechanical, electrical, civil, etc.).

EIZ Registration – Must be registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)

Attested Qualifications – All academic and professional documents must be certified or attested by the appropriate authorities.
