About the Maintenance Foreman Role
As a Maintenance Foreman at GRN Mining Zambia Limited, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of heavy mining equipment. You will oversee daily maintenance activities, coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, and foster a strong safety culture within the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance operations for heavy mining machinery.
- Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to optimize equipment uptime.
- Lead, mentor, and develop maintenance personnel to enhance team performance.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with company policies, OEM standards, and safety regulations.
- Diagnose mechanical issues promptly and coordinate effective repairs.
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and comprehensive equipment histories.
- Promote safety awareness through regular toolbox talks and adherence to safety protocols.
- Collaborate closely with Operations to minimize equipment downtime and support production goals.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related qualification.
- At least 3 years’ supervisory experience in maintenance within an open-pit mining environment.
- Proven hands-on experience working with Komatsu HD785 Dump Trucks, Hitachi Hydraulic Excavators, and Komatsu D85 Dozers.
- Valid membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) is essential.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems and heavy equipment diagnostics.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Computer literacy, with experience in maintenance management systems considered an advantage.
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
