Established in 1959, CBMI has become a global leader in the delivery of EPC Turnkey projects. CBMI’s businesses cover building materials, power generation, water works, environmental protection, power transmission and transformation, energy saving transformation and other related fields. In terms of building materials, we are capable of cement projects, glass fiber tank-kiln wire drawing projects and others. In terms of power generation, our businesses cover coal-fired power generation, heavy oil power generation, gas turbine combined cycle power generation, biomass power generation and industrial furnace waste heat power generation etc. In terms of water works, we can undertake sea water desalination, municipal water supply and industrial and urban sewage treatment. In terms of environmental protection, we can handle disposal of urban and industrial solid wastes. The projects undertaken by CBMI are spread across different countries from Asia to Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Here in Zambia, CBMI successfully constructed Lafarge Chilanga Cement Plant, Sinoma Cement Plant and Cleanlime Limestone Plant.
We are seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to support our projects team. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in Industrial projects, Solar projects and Warehousing projects, particularly for Civil works, Mechanical works and Electrical works.
Responsibilities or duties
- Preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects based on standard methods of measurement.
- Preparing and evaluating tender documents and ensuring that all submissions are compliant with project specifications and deadlines.
- Supporting the management of contracts and agreements, monitoring project progress and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and cost-control measures.
- Conducting on-site measurements and inspections and gathering data to ensure that project work aligns with specifications and quality standards.
- Completing any other tasks that may be requested by the Project Manager in line with the professional obligations of the Quantity Surveyor.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Experience needed
- Minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience working in construction projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or any other related field.
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Proficiency in Quantity Surveying software and Microsoft Office.
- Must be a member of the Zambia Institute of Quantity Surveyors.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team and with clients.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision.
