About Us:

Donoli's Kitchen is a vibrant restaurant serving a delicious mix of local African and Western dishes. We are looking for an experienced, passionate, and hard-working Cook to join our back-of-house team. Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking:

  • Prepare and cook menu items (both African and Western dishes) to high standards of taste, presentation, and consistency.
  • Handle daily prep work, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients (meat, vegetables, sauces).
  • Ensure all food is prepared and plated in a timely manner, keeping up with busy rush hours.

Kitchen Hygiene & Food Safety:

  • Maintain a spotlessly clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
  • Strictly follow food safety guidelines regarding food storage, temperature control, and handling.
  • Assist with washing dishes, cleaning kitchen equipment, and sanitizing prep areas at the end of shifts.

Inventory & Waste Management:

  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and report low stock to management.
  • Practice portion control to minimize food waste while maintaining quality.
  • Ensure proper rotation of stock (First In, First Out).

Teamwork:

  • Communicate clearly and effectively with the waitstaff (front-of-house) to ensure orders are correct and sent out promptly.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to keep the kitchen running smoothly and efficiently.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Proven prior experience working as a cook or kitchen assistant in a professional, busy restaurant setting is strictly required.

Location:

  • Must reside in Silverest or very close proximity (strongly preferred to ensure punctual arrival for morning prep or late-night closing shifts).

Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of both local Zambian/African dishes and Western cuisine.
  • Strong knife skills and understanding of basic professional cooking techniques.
  • Excellent time management and ability to remain calm and focused under high pressure.
  • Strict adherence to personal hygiene and kitchen sanitation standards.

Working Style:

  • High energy, a strong work ethic, and a team-first attitude.
