Background
Zamgoat Products Limited is seeking a dynamic, practical and commercially minded Veterinary & Technical Services Associate to join our team. The successful candidate will provide veterinary and technical support across our meat processing operations and Zamgoat Projects, helping strengthen food safety and quality assurance while supporting the technical delivery of livestock breeding, production and infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Support meat quality assurance, food safety, hygiene and veterinary compliance.
- Provide technical support for livestock health, welfare and biosecurity.
- Support the development and implementation of goat, sheep and cattle breeding and production programmes.
- Provide technical support for livestock housing and infrastructure projects.
- Conduct livestock, farm and project-site assessments.
- Develop and implement herd-health, breeding and livestock-management protocols.
- Train and provide technical support to farmers, cooperatives, project beneficiaries and Zamgoat staff.
- Support technical project proposals, implementation, commissioning and monitoring.
- Develop and maintain Zamgoat's livestock production, veterinary, biosecurity and quality-assurance standards.
- Support livestock procurement and other supply chain activities as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Applicants should have either: A Degree in Veterinary Medicine from a recognised institution; OR A recognised qualification as a Veterinary Assistant/Technician, Animal Health Technician or related field, with at least 5 years of relevant practical livestock experience.
- The ideal candidate should also have relevant professional registration/practice and must demonstrate: Strong practical interest and experience in livestock production, particularly goats, sheep and cattle.
- Knowledge of livestock health, disease prevention, animal welfare and biosecurity.
- Knowledge or interest in meat hygiene, food safety and quality assurance.
- A practical, field-oriented approach and willingness to travel to project locations.
- Good communication, record-keeping and report-writing skills.
- Experience in livestock breeding, abattoir/meat processing, farm infrastructure, farmer training or livestock project implementation will be an added advantage.
- Recent Veterinary Medicine graduates and early-career veterinarians with practical interest and experience in livestock production systems are strongly encouraged to apply.
