The Accountant will manage financial records, ensure statutory compliance, support financial reporting, and maintain sound financial controls for operations in Zambia. The role ensures accurate accounting practices aligned with organizational policies and local regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting

  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ledgers.
  • Process payments, invoices, receipts, and journal entries.
  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable.

2. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Provide variance analysis and financial insights.
  • Assist with financial forecasting.

3. Statutory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Zambian tax regulations.
  • Prepare and file VAT, PAYE, NAPSA, and other statutory returns.
  • Liaise with auditors, banks, and regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits.

4. Internal Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to internal financial policies.
  • Monitor expenditure against approved budgets.
  • Strengthen financial controls and risk management practices.
  • Support internal and external audits.

5. Payroll & Administration Support

  • Process payroll accurately and on time.
  • Maintain employee financial records.
  • Support procurement and asset tracking processes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports
  • Compliance with statutory deadlines
  • Audit findings and compliance ratings
  • Budget variance management
  • Quality of financial documentation

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, CPA or equivalent) — preferred or in progress.
  • Minimum 3–5 years accounting experience.
  • Experience working within Zambia’s tax and regulatory environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Knowledge of accounting systems (QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems)
  • Strong integrity and confidentiality
  • Organizational and time management skills

Technical Knowledge

  • Zambian tax laws and statutory compliance
  • Financial reporting standards
  • Budgeting and financial analysis

Other Requirements

  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ledgers.
