Ascend Futures Foundation invites applications from young people aged 18–30 years to serve as Community HIV Prevention Ambassadors. The project will run from April to October, 2026. The leadership and advocacy programme aims to strengthen youth-led, community-based HIV prevention, promote informed choice, and expand awareness of new and existing HIV prevention options, including long-acting PrEP.

Ascend Futures Foundation is a Zambian youth- and women-led organisation committed to advancing health equity, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV prevention, gender equality, climate change, and community leadership. Ascend works at the intersection of community advocacy, health systems strengthening, and human rights, with a strong focus on empowering young people and women to shape health solutions that affect their lives. Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking motivated young women and men (18–30 years) who are passionate about health, SRHR, and community advocacy, and who are ready to champion HIV prevention in their communities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be aged between 18 and 30 years.
- Be based in Lusaka or the surrounding communities.
- Have interest or experience in community mobilisation, SRHR, HIV, or youth advocacy.
- Be respected and trusted within their community.
- Be willing to commit time to training and community outreach.
- Be able to communicate effectively in English and/or local languages.
- Own a smartphone
- Be able to create content
Young women, adolescent girls, and young women (AGYW), as well as members of key or priority populations, are strongly encouraged to apply.
What Ambassadors Will Receive
- Free intensive training on HIV prevention and leadership.
- Ongoing mentorship and technical support.
- Advocacy toolkits and IEC materials.
- Support to conduct community education sessions.
- An official certificate of completion.
- Opportunity to join a regional network of young HIV prevention advocates.
- A monthly stipend of ZMW 1,000.00.
- Monthly internet bundles.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and actively participate in a 5-day intensive training.
- Conduct community education and mobilisation activities.
- Promote stigma-free, rights-based HIV prevention information.
- Link community members to appropriate health services.
- Document activities and share community feedback.
- Conduct community-led monitoring
Additional Notes
Ascend Futures Foundation is committed to promoting youth leadership, gender equality, inclusion, and human rights. Selection will be based on merit, diversity, and commitment to community HIV prevention.
