We are looking for qualified individuals to fill the position of Construction Manager.
As a Construction Manager with a passion for delivering stakeholder-centered solutions and a mindset that embraces innovation, you will play a critical leadership role in driving the company’s engineering and construction initiatives across Zambia and the region. You’ll be part of a dedicated, forward-thinking team that values integrity, excellence, and impact.
In this role, you will provide strategic direction and hands-on oversight for all infrastructure and construction activities – ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full compliance with Zambian regulatory standards. Your work will uphold the highest benchmarks of quality, safety, and sustainability.
You will also work closely with regulatory authorities, local communities, and key stakeholders to ensure each project is executed seamlessly, responsibly, and in a way that delivers lasting value.
What You’ll Do
Strategic Leadership & Planning:
- Lead the development and implementation of the company’s engineering and construction strategy in Zambia and the region.
- Oversee feasibility studies, investment planning, and technical due diligence for capital projects.
- Align engineering and construction operations with national development goals, environmental regulations, and company objectives.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on the project
Project Development & Execution
- Direct all phases of project lifecycle: concept design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Supervise large-scale projects including real estate, commercial, civil, energy, and industrial infrastructure.
- Provide technical guidance and support to the project team, resolving complex engineering challenges and ensuring the effective application of engineering principles.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the construction process, seeking opportunities to optimize efficiency and enhance project outcomes.
- Champion the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) within projects, ensuring its effective integration into the construction process.
- Ensure all projects adhere to NCC (National Council for Construction) and ERB (Engineering Registration Board) guidelines and standards.
- Manage construction contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with their terms and conditions.
Regulatory & Environmental Compliance
- Engage proactively with local and national authorities such as ZEMA, WARMA, ZESCO, and local councils to secure necessary permits and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with Zambian construction laws, occupational health and safety regulations, and environmental protection standards.
- Financial Oversight & Cost Management
- Lead budgeting, cost estimation, value engineering, and financial performance monitoring for all capital works.
- Evaluate contractor bids, negotiate contracts, and ensure transparent procurement in line with ZPPA (Zambia Public Procurement Authority) standards where applicable.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage).
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ experience, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role managing complex infrastructure or construction projects in Zambia or the region.
- Managerial disposition: High-integrity and results-driven strategic thinker with strong financial and contractual acumen
- Knowledgeable: In-depth knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and safety standards, strong grasp of local regulatory frameworks (NCC, ERB, ZEMA, ZPPA, etc.), and deep understanding of the Zambian construction and engineering environment
- Self Starter: Proactive and self-driven.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient with design/modelling and project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, etc.) and familiarity with BIM and other relevant technologies; eager to learn new tools.
Team Player & Excellent Communicator: Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal skills, writing, and presentation skills.
Curious & Bold: Embraces innovation, asks questions, and challenges norms.
Customer Centric: Understands the importance of client relationships and reliable delivery.
Flexible: Frequent travel to project sites across Zambia, occasional travel within the region or abroad for strategic partnerships or technical collaboration, and willingness to engage in both corporate and on-the-ground operational environments.
Certification: EIZ and ERB registration a must.

The development and implementation of environmental regulations, implementing sustainable practices and managing environmental projects or programmes, developing, implementing and monitoring health and safety programs. To ensure health & safety of the miners and the mining operations by planning, implementing and overseeing safety protocols and regulations, while also monitoring and assessing hazards to maintain a safe working environment. Conducting routine safety inspections, leading accident investigations, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, the role involves conducting safety training sessions, managing occupational health initiatives and overseeing security measures to ensure a safety working environment for all employees. Conducting site inspections, monitoring environmental parameters, ensuring compliance with regulations, and potentially investigating incidents, all while contributing to sustainable mining practices.
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. Diploma in occupational health, safety management or related field. At least a minimum of three (2) years’ experience in a similar role will be an added advantage. Experience in the construction industry is a plus. Able to work independently and collaboratively. Accident investigation and safety training skills is an added advantage.
