About Kison Studio

Kison Studio is a Lusaka-based creative production company specializing in high-quality, in-house video and photography content. We manage the full production process using our own gear and crew — from planning and shooting to post-production.

We are now hiring a skilled and detail-oriented Equipment Specialist / Director of Photography (DOP) to oversee the technical side of our productions, ensure our gear is maintained, and lead the visual execution of all video and photography projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the visual planning and execution of all video and photo shoots, collaborating with the creative team to realize each project’s vision.
  • Oversee camera, lighting, and grip setups, ensuring optimal technical quality on every shoot.
  • Maintain all in-house production equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting kits, stabilizers, batteries, drones etc.
  • Conduct regular equipment checks, troubleshooting and resolving any technical issues.
  • Recommend upgrades or additions to equipment inventory based on production needs.
  • Train and support the camera team on proper gear use, safety, and creative techniques.
  • Work on set as the lead camera operator or lighting director depending on the nature of the shoot.
  • Ensure consistent quality and visual style, from pre-production through post.
  • Contribute to internal content creation and passive income projects, such as stock footage and branded visuals.
  • Stay updated on industry technology trends, new gear releases, and evolving shooting styles.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Director of Photography, Camera Technician, or Senior Camera Operator.
  • In-depth knowledge of camera systems, lenses, lighting setups, and rigging.
  • Experience with visual storytelling, cinematic composition, and on-location lighting control.
  • Technical ability to maintain, clean, and troubleshoot professional production equipment.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to direct a crew on set.
  • Familiarity with modern video formats, resolution standards, and frame rate requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly during fast-paced shoots.
  • Passionate about creative production, visual quality, and efficiency.
