Description

We’re hiring a Finance Manager to join a renewable energy project in Lusaka, Zambia. While the role is based locally in Zambia, we welcome applications from global candidates with relevant expertise—particularly those with experience in energy or infrastructure projects.

We’re looking for someone who can confidently lead all financial functions on the ground, with a strong command of tax and cross-border importation processes, treasury planning and multi-currency financial management, construction budget tracking, audit readiness and lender reporting, and experience navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional entities in a cross-border environment.

The ideal candidate will be a confident financial leader with a proven ability to manage high-level responsibilities across multiple workstreams, provide strategic insight, and build a finance operation from the ground up.

Education Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (CA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Additional construction or project finance-related qualifications are advantageous

Experience Requirements

  • 7–8 years in a Finance Manager role, ideally in energy, infrastructure, or project finance
  • Big 4 background preferred, with experience in a multi-entity, cross-border environment
  • Strong understanding of Power Purchase Agreements, EPC contracts, financing agreements, and their interdependencies
  • Experience with treasury, lender drawdowns, and facility documentation
  • Demonstrated ability in accounting, reporting, and tax compliance
  • Exposure to Zambia’s energy sector is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with international accounting standards (IFRS)
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong working knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Oversee financial operations across construction and operational phases
  • Manage and report on detailed construction budgets, project costs, and cash flows
  • Lead financial reporting for local entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness
  • Prepare financial statements, coordinate audits, and ensure adherence to IFRS
  • Maintain updated ledgers and enforce robust internal controls in the accounting system
  • Prepare lender drawdown requests and manage project compliance with loan agreements
  • Ensure timely tax returns and coordinate with external tax advisors and local authorities
  • Monitor treasury operations, optimise cash management, and maintain banking relationships
  • Act as the point of contact for all financial reporting to shareholders and the off-taker
  • Support company secretarial filings, due diligence, and business development from a finance perspective

Skills

  • Proactive, hands-on leader with strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and deadlines
  • Strong communicator and relationship builder, particularly with regulators, banks, and auditors
  • Highly organised with excellent planning and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable navigating legal and technical documents related to energy finance
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools
  • Able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional, multicultural team
  • Willingness to travel internationally for short durations
