Job purpose

As a Fluter, Fitter and Turner, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate fluting of rollers for milling equipment, while also contributing to the seamless operation of machinery and mechanical systems. This includes assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing precision components, interpreting technical drawings, and ensuring optimal equipment performance and productivity.

Duties and responsibilities

Operations

  • Operate and monitor fluting machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform precision machining, fitting, and fluting of components to meet quality standards.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Operate and maintain machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and fluting equipment.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment to ensure seamless production.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on machinery.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure products meet required standards.
  • Assist with inventory control by reporting discrepancies and ensuring proper documentation.

Skills, Education and Qualifications

Essential skills

  • Speak, read, and write English.
  • Must be computer and smartphone literate.
  • Must have a Grade 12 certificate (Matric, Passed).
  • Proven experience as a Fluting Machine Operator and/or Fitter and Turner in a similar role.
  • Trade qualification in Fitting and Turning.
  • Technical expertise in operating and maintaining fluting machines and other machining equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of machining techniques and equipment operation.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical blueprints.
  • Ability to read and follow assembly instructions and technical drawings.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

Advantage:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Valid Zambian passport.

Working conditions

  • Must be prepared to work overtime as and when required.
  • Must be able to travel and stay away from home for at least 4 weeks.
  • Both physically and medically fit.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
