Purpose Of The Role
The Manager, Supply Chain will be responsible for planning, leading, and controlling the end-to-end supply chain function to ensure uninterrupted mining operations at optimal cost, quality, and service levels. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across procurement, logistics, inventory, supplier management, and contract administration, while ensuring compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and safety standards.
Responsibilities or duties
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental and statutory requirements across all supply chain activities
- Develop and implement the site supply chain strategy aligned with operational and business objectives
- Lead and manage procurement, logistics, expediting, inventory management, and contract administration functions
- Oversee supplier sourcing, tender evaluations, negotiations, and contract awards in line with delegated authority
- Manage supplier performance, contract compliance, and supply chain risk mitigation
- Coordinate logistics and freight forwarding activities for local and international procurement
- Drive inventory optimisation, critical spares planning, and supply continuity
- Lead, coach, and develop supply chain personnel to achieve performance and succession objectives
- Ensure effective use of ERP systems (Pronto preferred) and accurate reporting of key supply chain KPIs
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA or equivalent) will be an added advantage
- Membership of ZIPS
- All qualifications must be certified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
Experience & Skills
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in senior supply chain, procurement, or contracts roles within mining, resources, or heavy industry
- At least 5 years in a leadership or managerial position
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and contract management
- Strong knowledge of mining supply chains, logistics, inventory control, and OEM environments
- Experience working in remote or complex operational environments
- Proficiency in ERP systems (Pronto preferred) and Microsoft Office applications
Competencies
- Strong commercial and analytical skills
- High ethical standards and governance discipline
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a demanding operational environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Results‑focused with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
