Job Purpose:
To manage the sourcing, negotiation, and acquisition of goods and services that keep business operations running smoothly. To ensure that every purchase meets the company standards for quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery, while building strong, ethical relationships with suppliers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing and reviewing company strategies for ordering supplies and equipment for the company
- Preparing organization wide procurement plans for the purchase of equipment, services, and supplies.
- Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports
- Evaluating suppliers, products, and services. negotiating contracts in line with company’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Negotiating contracts with vendors for new purchases
- Reviewing, comparing, analyzing, and overseeing and approving timely purchase of products and services
- Managing inventories to ensure adequate stock
- Maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges, etc.
- Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
- Communicating with Suppliers to maintain positive relations,
Qualifications, Competencies & Skills:
- Degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management/ BSC Accounting/ BBA, CIPS added Advantage
- Membership of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS)
- years’ experience as a Procurement Officer in a reputable organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software
- In-depth knowledge of procurement processes, supplier management, and market analysis
- Familiarity with RFQ, RFP, and RFI processes, and experience in managing procurement qualifications and standards.
- Understanding of global market trends, supply chain dynamics, and pricing strategies.
- Networking and Negotiation Skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Proactive
- Astute and Hands on
- Integrity
