CEC Career Opportunity : Project Engineer – Transmission Projects
VAC-2026-0007: PROJECT ENGINEER – TRANSMISSION PROJECTS
This role is responsible for supporting design reviews and managing project documentation to facilitate timely, efficient, and high-quality project delivery. It involves validating and clarifying project requirements to effectively inform the planning process, as well as providing on-site supervision to ensure all work is executed in strict compliance with approved specifications, standards, and quality expectations.
The position will report to the Senior Manager – Transmission Projects.
Key Accountabilities
- Supervise site activities to ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, approved specifications, and to issue instructions in accordance with the engineer’s authorization.
- Document daily site activities, manage all quality records for audit readiness, and archive all project documents in the designated repository at closeout.”
- Attend site meetings and take minutes.
- Supports/Leads/Follows the change management process for any potential design changes Participate in the review of technical designs and specifications before the release for manufacturing.
- Collaborate with team members to conduct engineering analysis for new equipment designs and emerging technologies. Apply sound engineering principles to inform operational and strategic decisions, and interpret applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, and internal policies.
- Participate in contract negotiations and tender document preparation.
- Perform specialised technical tasks as assigned to support CEC’s projects.
- Support commissioning and ensure performance, reliability, and testing are completed per contract.
- Participate in the equipment inspection activities as agreed with the contractor.
- Perform other duties as assigned relating to training and development.
- Assess individual training requirements to strengthen skill sets essential for providing high-quality services.
- Participate in financial planning and expenditure management to ensure the project remains within budget constraints while upholding the quality of work.
- Monitor SHEQ compliance to ensure that all contractors adhere to the requirements of applicable laws.
- To act as the principal point of contact and facilitate clear, effective communication regarding project progress.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement/recommend mitigation measures
To be successful in this role, you will be required to have
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical/electronics)
- Member of EIZ
- Registered Engineer
- At least 4 years’ experience, including 3 years on advanced technical projects with proven adaptability to tackle new challenges
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Power Systems.
- Able to effectively communicate (verbal, written, presentations).
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project or equivalent.
- Capable of collaborating with environmental teams, permitting professionals, and construction management teams.
- Maintains strong and professional customer relations Ability to recognize and mitigate hazards in the workplace.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and proactively drive meaningful change.
