Responsibilities or duties

Setting up and operating the different equipment in the different processing areas to ensure optimal output meeting the quality standards. Specific equipment required to be operated include dryers, shellers, fine cleaners, color sorters and seed treaters. Supports warehouse activities during processing shifts.

Qualifications or requirements 

A minimum of a grade 12 certificate. Holder of CE drivers license. Forklift driving certificate. Competency in seed processing operations, good conceptual and analytical thinking skills, problem-solving ability. Computer skills (SAP, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Windows). Highly self-motivated, innovative and have a proven project management record. Strong desire for personal development and professional growth at Bayer. Excellent planning and organization skills. Strong judgement and decision-making skills. Networking and relationship management skills. Results orientation.

Experience needed

At least 2-7 years’ experience in Plant Operations and Engineering.

• Identify and report KPI’s on the applicable TIER meetings and ensure the measurement and analysis thereof for all responsible areas to ensure daily,weekly, monthly and annual goals are met.
• Lead HSE efforts according ISO 45001 and Bayer safety standards focusing on legal compliance and identifying safety risks applying the HIRAmethodology
• Participate in compiling Risk assessments and Job safety analysis
• Actively record safety observation and near misses
• Participate in 5WHY problem solving identifying corrective and preventative actions.
• Adhere to all applicable legislation, Bayer safety policies and procedures
• Adhere to requirements of legal appointments
• Actively promote the Bayer safety culture and best practices
• Managing the flow of product through the different stages of the processes
• Set-up and operate dryer bin truck for offloading and loading of cobs
• Has excellent tipper truck driving and operating skills
• Able to drive a forklift and has certification in the same
• Set-up and operate the equipment in the different areas (Cleaning, Sizing , Color sorting, Treating, Bagging and Aspiration
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance standards and management system set by ISO9001:2015
• Support Continuous improvement projects to drive cost saving and OEE improvement via Focused Improvement projects
• Day-to-day operations and execution of processing plan.
• Maintaining of Quality control process in processing operations. Working with the quality team
• Ensure that all OnePSS principles are implemented and followed for your area.
• Maintain housekeeping to the right level according to the 5S standard
• Ensure that the final product is of the highest standard throughout the process.
• Updating of all visual management boards and all paperwork
