Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to handle day-to-day financial operations in Zambia, ensuring compliance with local regulations while supporting the broader finance team under the guidance of our CFO. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting in our loan portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including ledgers, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.monthly management accounts and yearly financial statements
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for LoanCo's Zambian operations.
- Ensure compliance with Zambian tax laws, IFRS standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ZRA filings, Bank of Zambia guidelines).
- Manage payroll processing, expense tracking, and vendor payments for the Zambian team.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and liaising with external auditors.
- Monitor loan disbursements, collections, and financial risks in coordination with the credit and collections manager.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with the admin team on operational finance matters, such as inventory and asset management.
- Adhere to internal controls and contribute to process improvements for financial systems.
- Manage and store all original supporting documents
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or equivalent (part-qualified candidates will be considered).
- At least 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in the financial services or lending sector.
- Strong knowledge of Zambian accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with budgeting, and audit preparation.
- Familiarity with loan management systems is a plus.
