Job Purpose:
The Warehouse Manager manages the Lusaka warehouse, including receiving, storing, inventorying, and dispatching materials and equipment for solar minigrid works. The role ensures accurate stock management, timely availability of materials for field teams, and proper handling of assets to minimize losses and operational delays. The Warehouse Manager will manage relationships with truck owners for efficient dispatch of materials from Lusaka to respective sites. The Warehouse Manager will also participate in national procurement activities such as the purchase of fencing, building materials, cabling, pole dressing, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate records of all inventory, monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment, including electrical materials, solar equipment, and construction supplies.
- Implement and maintain inventory control system using Google Sheets.
- Oversee receipt of materials and verify quantities and quality against delivery notes.
- Conduct monthly stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Implement appropriate storage practices for sensitive equipment such as solar panels, batteries, and inverters.
- Coordinate dispatch of materials to project sites with appropriately sized trucks.
- Work closely with the Civil Engineer and Lead Electrician to fulfill material requests.
- Track movement of materials between warehouse and field locations.
- Maintain records of tools, equipment, and company assets issued to field teams.
- Track asset usage, returns, and condition.
- Ensure warehouse is clean, organized, and secure at all times.
- Implement systems to minimize damage, loss, or theft of materials.
- Supervise offloading and loading activities.
- Enforce safety standards within the warehouse
- Supervise warehouse staff, storekeepers, and loaders.
- Provide training on inventory systems and warehouse procedures.
- Support procurement planning with stock data and consumption trends.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in warehouse or inventory management.
- Experience in solar minigrids or rural electrification is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of construction methods, materials, and site practices.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Geographical Information Systems (Google Earth and QGIS) is an added advantage.
Languages:
- Excellent oral and written English required.
- Proficiency in at least one local Zambian language; language from NW Province is an added advantage.
