VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: RELIABILITY ENGINEER
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed individuals for the position of Reliability Engineer to join the versatile Maintenance Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Reliability Coordinator, you will be responsible for ensuring systems, equipment and processes operate safely, reliably and efficiently throughout their lifecycle by proactively identifying risks, analyzing data, failures and implementing improvements to prevent downtime. The role focuses on enhancing performance, maintaining safety and quality standards, reducing lifecycle costs and supporting continuous improvement through data-driven maintenance and reliability strategies.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Identifying bad actors and repetitive failures and developing engineering solutions to mitigate them.
- Developing and reviewing asset maintenance strategies through RCM, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Preventive Maintenance Optimization (PMO) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Collecting and analyzing data -Power BI, SQL, Smart Fleet, Vision Link.
- Creating Power BI reports to track and monitor equipment KPIs (MTBF, MTTR, Availability, Work order compliance, maintenance cost etc.).
- Developing failure reports and ensuring the implementation of subsequent corrective actions to prevent repeat failures.
- Monitoring asset condition using technologies such as vibration, ultrasound, NDT, thermography and oil analysis to predict failures and inform maintenance decisions.
- Develop Life Cycle Cost models that optimize life cycle costs and identify repair verses replacement decisions.
- Improve equipment reliability through asset condition and integrity reviews, equipment strategy validation, equipment root cause analysis, component hour analysis reviews, equipment technical support and undertaking improvement projects.
- Manage reliability processes such as defect elimination, root cause analysis, lubrication, condition monitoring, and QA / QC.
- Ensure compliance with statutory acts and regulations and consent conditions and ensure that all relevant standards are adhered to in the project environment.
- Ensure controlled document management system is in place and maintained for all electronic drawings and equipment manuals.
- Analyzing and interpreting oil analysis results to ascertain oil health, oil contamination and overall asset health and generating oil analysis reports to recommend maintenance actions.
- Collaborating with OEMs to identify and adopt technologies and practices to improve asset reliability.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate.
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar.
- Minimum 3 year’s experience in the mining environment or similar.
- ARP or CMRP certification (added advantage).
- Condition monitoring certification (added advantage).
- Understanding of reliability concepts such as RCM, FMEA, and defect elimination (advantageous).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite and Power BI.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP, Pronto, or similar).
- Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia.
- Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license; will be an added advantage.
