Position Title:

Resident Chinese Translator & Site Assistant

Job Location:

Kaoma, Western Province, Zambia

Key Responsibilities & Job Description

  • Serve as the core resident site translator, providing real-time interpretation between Chinese (Mandarin) and English for management and the local construction workforce.
  • Remain stationed full-time at the project base in Kaoma, Western Province, to handle daily communication and resolve issues promptly.
  • Translate construction safety protocols, daily tool-kit briefings, operational tasks, and engineering requirements directly on-site.
  • Assist in handling basic site administrative documentation and data logging using general office software tools.
  • Act as a crucial intermediary to manage local worker relations, resolve cultural or linguistic misunderstandings, and facilitate smooth teamwork.
  • Perform additional site-support or logistical administrative tasks assigned by the project director.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Mandatory proficiency in Chinese (Mandarin) equivalent to HSK Level 4 or HSK Level 5 (certified or demonstrated fluent communication).
  • Strong verbal translation and practical dialogue comprehension skills to facilitate seamless site operations.
  • Basic computer literacy with elementary proficiency in basic office software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) for basic report entries.
  • Adaptability to a full-time residential site model in Kaoma, Western Province; resilient and comfortable with construction campsite environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal coordination and communication skills; cooperative attitude when interacting with both local personnel and Chinese engineering supervisors.

Compensation & Benefits Package

The company offers an elite compensation package tailored for specialized local linguistic talents:

  • Salary Component / Phase: Probation Period - 3 Months
  • Details / Standards: Gross Monthly Salary Range - K13,000.00 – K15,000.00 per month (Before Tax / Tax Inclusive)
  • Site Accommodation: Standard on-site residential lodging and basic meals provided by the company camp
  • Statutory Benefits: Full regulatory compliance including national statutory contributions for social security (NAPSA) and health insurance (NHIMA).
