Background

To oversee and coordinate all feed shed, warehouse and lake-based feed operations to ensure accurate receiving, safe storage, efficient issuance, and proper documentation of feed. The role ensures stock integrity, adherence to quality and safety standards, and effective supervision of warehouse staff to support uninterrupted production and distribution activities. Additionally, the role involves managing the inventory of Lake Operations materials stored on land, ensuring accurate tracking and stock integrity.

Key Responsibilities & Critical Success Measures

Warehouse Operations Management:

  • Coordinate daily receiving, storage, and issuance of feed in line with production and distribution schedules.
  • Ensures safety stock levels are maintained as per company strategy. In close collaboration with the lake operations team.
  • Maintain proper feed rotation (FIFO/FEFO) to avoid spoilage or quality deterioration.
  • Ensure all stock movements are accurately captured in the warehouse management system.
  • Conduct routine checks to confirm correct stacking, segregation, and labelling of feed.
  • Ensure good warehouse practices such as cleaning, pest control and access control are in place.

Lake Feed Movement

  • Ensures that sufficient feed is moved daily from land to lake and from lake storehouses to feed platforms
  • Accurate records of inventory in all barges
  • Ensures that staffing levels are managed/balanced and that there is full accountability for the actions of the staff moving feed both at the harbour and on the lake
  • No instances where poor performance is acceptable, underperformance, or ill-discipline must be followed through by enforcing the appropriate disciplinary procedure.

Stock Control & Reporting

  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly stock reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve variances in coordination with Finance and Production teams.
  • Generate and submit regular stock reports reflecting consumptions, balances, and trends.
  • Monitor and report slow-moving, damaged, expired, or at-risk stock.
  • Inventorize

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with Production, Logistics service provider, feed suppliers, and Quality teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate daily feed issuance plans and stock availability updates.
  • Support operational planning by providing accurate inventory and consumption data.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Full grade 12 certificate.
