Job description:
Overall Job Purpose:
- To contribute to the Dewatering team in the handling, construction and maintenance of mine dewatering piping – both HDPE and steel systems, with the main focus on HDPE fusion welding.
Specific Job Responsibility:
- Ensuring that all pipe projects are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, to assure maximum uptime.
- Pipe butt-welding, assembly, disassembly and movements.
- Meeting targets for daily work group activities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Achieving results through prioritizing activities, monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding oneself accountable for the results.
- Motivate yourself and others in overcoming obstacles and achieving goals.
- Planning & assisting in laying out of work on new projects.
- A proven ability to work with other mining operation disciplines to achieve minimal disruption to pump operating times
- To ensure personal safety and mine safety procedures through attention to detail at all times
Job Specific Competencies:
- Proven experience with pumping and piping systems and open pit dewatering, unplanned repair & installation tasks on plant equipment.
- Knowledge of different types of plastic materials and their properties
- Proficiency in various plastic welding techniques and equipment operation
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to interpret technical plans and specifications
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing situations
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Prior experience in plastic welding or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to multi-task & work well in a team environment
- Good verbal skills
- High regard and commitment to safe work practices
- Must be a good swimmer
Experience & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a large mining operation or piping project works
- Grade 12 certificate
- HDPE welding course certificate
- Craft certificate in a Mechanical field
- All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
