The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) was established through an Act of Parliament; the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2002. RTSA has the mandate to implement Government policy on road safety and transport management. The Agency also collects Revenue on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Zambia. The following vacancies now exist;
STATION MANAGER (3 POSITIONS)
Purpose of the job
Reporting to the Provincial Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for registering and licensing motor vehicles and trailers, licensing drivers in accordance with the provisions of the Road Traffic Act of 2002 and undertake enforcement of the provisions of the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2002.
Duties and Responsibilities
a. Supervise and undertakes the registration of motor vehicles and trailers;
b. Supervise and Maintain the register of motor vehicles and trailers
c. License motor vehicles and trailers;
d. Supervise the licensing of dealers for motor vehicles and trailers;
e. Supervises and undertakes effectively regulation of driving schools and instructors in order to maintain appropriate standards for proper teaching of learner drivers
f. Issue Cross Boarder Permits in accordance with the protocols on transport;
g. Issue Road Service Licenses in accordance with the Act;
h. Supervise examination of drivers for the purpose of issuance of driving licenses;
i. Supervise the examination of motor vehicles and trailers for the purpose of roadworthiness certification;
j. Investigate Road Traffic Accidents and submit reports;
k. Effectively use e-ZAMTIS in executing the functions;
l. Attend to court cases whenever called upon:
m. To undertake enforcement through road traffic patrols;
n. To prepare monthly activity reports for the station and submit to the Provincial Manager;
o. Supervises effectively the safeguarding of accountable documents, collection, accounting, and collection and banking of revenue in order to meet revenue targets and facilitate accountability; and
p. Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Provincial Manager/Superiors
Requirements
a. Grade 12 Certificate or GCE Equivalent
b. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Advanced CILT Diploma or related field;
c. Minimum of 4 years work experience;
d. Member to relevant Professional bodies.
