Area of responsibility: Zambia

Reporting to: Financial Controller – Zambia Cluster
Role and Responsibilities
The Accountant is responsible for assisting with ensuring financial accuracy, compliance and contributing to the integrity of our financial operations. The scope of this role includes bank payments, tax, audit, fixed assets and assisting the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer where required.
Cash and Bank Account management
Vendor management
Taxation and PACRA administration
Audit coordination
Insurance administration
Company Assets and Operating Tools administration
Month end Balance Sheet reconciliation
Month end reporting and commentary
Business Budgeting and Analysis for business decision making purposes
Resolution of historical financial related matters
Cluster (Zambia and Mozambique) financial assistance
Smart invoice generation in the ZRA Smart Invoice Platform
Management of two direct reports and financial coaching and training for accounting requirements in Mozambique
Stakeholder Management
Represent the Financial Controller within the designated work location by undertaking ways of working and instructions with accuracy, integrity and honesty.
Competencies and Business Expertise
- Strong administrative skills and financial application navigation with accuracy and attention to detail essential,
- Microsoft Office software, with extensive Excel knowledge,
- SAP proficiency,
- Finance task accountability,
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and drive corrective actions and continuous improvements efforts within own work environment in a proactive and solution driven manner,
- Quality control,
- Deadline management,
- Good understanding of the procedure to pay process,
- Understanding of the business impact of non-payment of vendors,
- Good knowledge of Rental, Withholding tax, VAT, Reverse VAT and corporate tax requirements.
Problem Solving and Interpersonal Skills
- Ability to allocate funds appropriately to ensure the best continued operations of the business,
- Effectively communicate to external vendors the status of their account and payments made or outstanding,
- Work with multiple departments and entities to ensure that all intercompany balances reconcile on a weekly basis,
- Self-Motivated and disciplined to undertake activities without minimum supervision,
- Honest and ethical.
Qualifications and Experience
- Accounting qualification accredited by ZICA for Graduate Membership status or above,
- ZICA membership at Graduate level or above,
- 5 to 10 years work experience in a similar position.
