The Lusaka International Arbitration Centre (LIAC) is an independent institution dedicated to the promotion and administration of arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in Zambia and the region. LIAC provides state-of-the-art facilities and services for the conduct of domestic and international arbitrations, mediations, and other ADR proceedings, in accordance with the highest international standards.
About the Role:
LIAC is seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the administration of arbitration cases and provide essential administrative support.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and administer arbitration cases in accordance with the LIAC Arbitration Rules.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the parties, arbitrators, representatives, and the Court.
- Assist with the constitution of arbitral tribunals, including the appointment and confirmation of arbitrators.
- Coordinate and schedule case management conferences, hearings, and other meetings.
- Manage the filing, exchange, and distribution of documents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files, both in electronic and physical format.
- Ensure compliance with deadlines and procedural requirements.
- Assist with the preparation of correspondence, reports, and other documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Deputy Secretary General.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field. Knowledge of arbitration law and procedures is an added advantage.
- Excellent organisational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
- Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and working knowledge of working in the cloud.
