The Chief Investments Officer will lead and drive the core business of the Company by developing and executing the company's investment strategy to achieve sustainable growth, maximize shareholder value, and ensure long-term profitability. The role provides strategic leadership in identifying, evaluating, structuring, monitoring, and managing investment opportunities to ensure optimal returns. Take charge of making data-driven recommendations to management regarding refinements to existing investments and assessing potential opportunities. Responsible for executing long-term strategies and making investment decisions for your company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute investment plans and strategies based on trends in financial markets, macroeconomic conditions, and company strategy
• Collaborate with other executives in the development of short- and long-term capital allocation plans
• Create new strategic and tactical investment portfolios and identify the best execution methods for those investments
• Recommend investments and monitor performance to ensure Company's objectives and strategic/financial goals are achieved
• Effectively communicate investment policy and portfolio decisions
• Develop, implement, and maintain portfolio strategies and processes
• Monitor performance metrics including cost, risk, cash flow, and liquidity
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, and operations departments
• Oversee financial investment analysis in investee companies and other sectors
• Conduct independent research to determine investment viability
• Perform ongoing performance benchmarking
• Develop frameworks for portfolio management strategy decisions
• Prepare accounting analyses, reports, and prospectuses
• Establish/maintain accounting policies and procedures
• Forecast future cash flows and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Lead portfolio management decisions including asset selection and rebalancing
• Develop/maintain reporting systems and present findings in detailed reports
• Develop/monitor annual operating budgets and quarterly forecasts
• Oversee portfolio allocation under various market conditions
• Lead construction/management of portfolio models with tactical adjustments
• Maintain financial sector relationships to stay informed on financing sources
• Monitor socioeconomic trends to align funding programs with market norms
• Lead teams in portfolio management, business development, research, and specialized portfolios
• Set investment performance targets per regulations and policies
• Lead Management Investments Committee (MIC)
• Prepare investment papers for Investments Committee of the Board (ICB)
• Establish/review due diligence policies and ensure team adherence
• Monitor investment performance against project feasibilities
• Interpret/apply Enterprise Risk Management tools and policies
• Oversee treasury operations for money/capital markets and custodial services
• Manage treasury system and track new investment proposals (cost/schedule/performance)
• Review treasury reports on maturity, liquidity, risk exposure, etc.
• Monitor cash requirements and liquidity with variance analysis

- Full ACCA/CIMA/CFA/CA Zambia
• Degree in Economics/Accounting or equivalent
• Master's Degree in relevant field
• Relevant Investment certification (preferred)
• 10+ years investment management experience (5+ at management level)
• Proven successful investment strategy track record
• In-depth global financial markets knowledge
• Risk management/compliance experience
• Senior management collaboration experience
• Strategic planning alignment skills
• Current regulatory/compliance knowledge
• Due diligence/investment evaluation expertise
• Complex financial data analysis capability
• Relevant professional body membership
