JOB DETAILS:

The Zambia National Farmers’ Union (ZNFU) is looking for an outstanding, results oriented and highly motivated individual to provide services as a Communication, Media and Public Relations Manager to implement its communication strategy which involves the Social Media, the Zambian Farmer Magazine and Public Relations.
The mission of the ZNFU is to promote and safeguard the interests of members as individual farmers, corporations/companies, purveyors and other organizations involved in the business of agriculture and related activities in order to achieve sustainable agricultural, economic and social development.

The position is self-sustaining on Consultancy basis by providing the following outputs:

ZAMBIAN FARMER MAGAZINE ASPECTS
• Ensure timely production and publication of the Zambian Farmer Magazine .
• Effect quality editorial material content.
• Ensure that a dummy copy is presented to the Editorial team and immediate supervisor .
• Source adverts & payments for the magazine being published;
• Ensure successive and growing profitability of the Magazine;
• Take full responsibility of the management, production and marketing of the magazine;

THE PUBLIC RELATIONS ASPECTS
• Managing communication and public relations for the ZNFU based on information from key sources such as members meeting, agricultural industry stakeholders meetings and the ZNFU leadership and management.
• Shaping and maintaining the image of the ZNFU in the eyes of the stakeholders and the public;
• Using all forms of media and communication to protect, enhance,build, and manage the reputation of the Union;
• Liaising and responding to enquiries and managing interview requests;
• Researching, writing, and distributing press releases to targeted media;
• Collating and analysing media coverage with the aim of increasing the spread of Union Information.
• Organizing press briefings and press tours;
• Managing the public relations aspect of a potential crisis;

SOCIAL MEDIA ASPECTS
The tasks involves overseeing the Union interactions with members and the public by implementing social media platforms’ content strategies. Duties include analysing engagement data, identifying trends in customer interactions and planning digital campaigns to build a community online.

SPECIFIC ROLES
• Analyse client expectations according to past social media activity.
• Develop social media campaigns in coordination with Units and farming community.
• Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and key results areas (KRAs) for social media campaigns to monitor impact of activities.
• Update social media content across all channels and follow up to ensure outreach is effective.
• Engage with clientele and followers in close supervision with Units that submitted activity.
• Use social media marketing tools such as Business Suite or any other that will ensure smooth operation of channels.
• Monitor campaigns and analyze data obtained to improve on processes.
• Monitor Search Engine Optimization (SEO) systems and web traffic metrics and report to supervisor.
• Establish relationships with social media influencers to develop a strong network without negatively impacting the institution’s reputation or social standing.
• Develop content in close collaboration with the Units as required.
• Always keep an eye on social media trends.
• Communicate effectively to all stakeholders including senior management and perform other tasks as assigned.

Skills and Credentials
The ZNFU is seeking services of a self-starter to fill this position on a consultancy basis with the following qualifications;
• Training
• A degree in mass communication with development economics reporting experiences and basic knowledge of agriculture.
• Proven record of undertaking Editor Functions and handling of print and or soft media publications.
• Minimum experience required is 5 years.
• This is a key position reporting to the Head Membership, Communication and Public Relations.

Bachelor Degree
