Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative professional to join our team as a Proof Reader & Social Media Coordinator. This hybrid role combines meticulous proofreading skills with strategic social media management to maintain the company’s brand voice, ensure content quality, and drive audience engagement across digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a passion for accuracy, grammar, and brand consistency, as well as a solid grasp of social media trends, tools, and engagement strategies. You will work closely with content creators, designers, and marketing leads to ensure all published materials are error-free, on-brand, and optimized for various digital platforms
Key Responsibilities
- Review and edit business listings, promotional posts, and community announcements for spelling, grammar, and clarity.
- Ensure consistency in formatting, tone, and style across all app content.
- Work closely with the content team and local business contributors to maintain quality and professionalism.
- Flag unclear or problematic language and suggest simple, effective alternatives.
- Review updates to existing content to ensure they meet editorial standards.
- Review articles created by AI for factual accuracy and natural language flow
- Localize content to match Laudium’s cultural and social context
- Identify and correct any AI hallucinations or content that’s too generic.
- Monitor post performance and audience engagement, adjust strategy accordingly
- Collaborate with design and content teams to align visuals and messaging
- Stay current with social media trends, hashtags, and algorithm updates
- Respond to comments and messages in a timely, professional manner
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in proofreading, editing, or content writing.
- Fluent written and spoken English, with excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot and correct inconsistencies.
- Comfortable working with digital platforms and AI-generated content.
- Reliable and self-managed, able to meet deadlines without supervision.
- Previous proofreading, editing, or writing experience preferred.
- Proven experience in proofreading, editing, or content writing
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing social media platforms professionally
- Excellent written communication skills
- Familiarity with brand voice and tone management
- Basic understanding of analytics (e.g., reach, engagement, CTR)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with community-based or local business initiatives.
- Familiarity with the Laudium area, cultural and social context or similar communities is an asset.
- Knowledge of additional South African languages is a bonus but not required.
- Experience with community media, digital publishing, or mobile content.
- Multilingual (knowledge of additional South African languages is a bonus).
- Confident suggesting rewrites or content improvements to enhance clarity and tone.
