One Hope Foundation is an NGO based in Lusaka, Zambia. Fondly known as House of Hope Africa within our communities, we use a strength based holistic approach to improve the lives of vulnerable children, women and families. We do this through several programs including education, skills training and development, emergency support, advocacy and community development.

The organisation’s foundation is built on Jesus’ mandate for us to love in action as through this, we can empower individuals and communities to fulfil their God given, purpose filled life.

One of the core programs within our educational arm, is our Early Childhood Education program.

We have an exciting opportunity within this program! We are currently looking for an early childhood teacher to intern with us as part of our team. If you are filled with the passion, energy, training and heart to fulfil such a position, we encourage you to apply as this could be for you.

Details are as follows:

Internship Position: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Teacher

Location: Mtendere East, Lusaka, Zambia

Application Deadline: Monday 26th January 2026 (17:00hrs)

Conditions: Experience desirable but not essential

We are looking for someone who...

  • Is nurturing, patient and creative in engaging young learners
  • Is committed to the academic and social development of every child
  • Understands the value of community-centered education

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement age appropriate lessons and activities
  • Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment for all learners
  • Monitor and assess individual learning progress
  • Facilitate learning in a trauma informed manner to all children in programs
  • Foster open communication with parents/guardians
  • Participate in organisational events (including training and development workshops)
  • Perform and undertake other organisational duties as required and assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (or a related field)
  • Strong classroom and group management skills
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, active listening and interpersonal)
  • Ability to teach early reading, writing and foundational mathematics using age appropriate engagement methods
  • Fluent in English and Nyanja (spoken, reading, written and comprehension)
  • Highly motivated, organised and able to manage own time and organisational timeframes
  • Able to demonstrate compassion and empathy across all interactions with children, community members and teams
  • Understanding of what is involved working within vulnerable communities and the NGO sector, including being respectful and inclusive of differing cultures, status and beliefs
  • Committed Christian with a conviction to not only believe in Christian biblical principles, but apply and uphold these in both your personal and professional life
