Job Summary

To provide high level support to the MD of Absa Bank Zambia that enables him/her to efficiently achieve overall strategy and profitability; by means of delivering the customer, colleague, company and community agenda. Main accountabilities include specific responsibility for Strategic Planning and Financial Analysis of specific projects, managing relationships with Country Management Committee members, external regulators etc. in addition to the prioritisation of issues and actions in collaboration with the MD.

Job Description

  • Specific responsibility for Strategic Planning and Financial Analysis of Specific Projects.
  • Develop and drive key strategic activities in the MD’s office ensuring overall fit with business strategy in context of overall Absa Group strategy.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with Country MDs and their support teams to ensure achievement of business goals. Identify and assist in unlocking strategic issues.
  • Contribute to overall communications/events calendar, identifying opportunities & generating ideas to ensure strategic messages are delivered at all events involving the MD.
  • Governance, compliance and operational rigour throughout the business.
  • Ensure the MD manages his/her personal and business profile appropriately to enhance the image and reputation of Absa Bank Zambia Plc.
  • Point of contact for the CMC and manages issues raised to MD on a daily basis, escalating where necessary
  • Support MD to achieve customer service standards/experience and building Absa Bank Zambia’s profile/reputation within the country and sub-region, maintaining strong business relationships in and outside the Bank.
  • Provide support to ensure an effective senior leadership team is developed to fulfil business and personal objectives/aspirations.
  • Accountable to provide reports required at Absa regional level.
  • Act as Country Management Committee secretariat to manage agenda and action log for leadership team meetings ensuring relevance and timely resolution of issues.
  • Ensure MD channels activities to champion required change and leads excellent implementation through the business.
  • Accountable for the production of briefing material, presentation and reports required by MD for range of visits, meetings, conferences across the country; ensuring adequate engagement of key stakeholders; in liaison with External Affairs, PR and Communications business partners.
  • Point of contact to provide country briefings for senior business visits to Absa Bank Zambia offices.
  • Production of results communication and business information cascade for internal staff.
  • Plan and monitor a calendar of events/annual diary of activity for MD to ensure efficient use of time in line with strategy and coordinating functional leaders to the agenda.
  • Ensure MD completes performance development process with each of the leadership team.
  • Accountable for MD’s office on a daily basis including ensuring administrative tasks are completed and on time; and MD budgets and finance are managed effectively
  • Accountable for the effective management of team of staff working with in the MD office.
  • Accompany the MD on visits where required, recording feedback for wider communication and progressing follow up actions
  • Ensure effective event management; senior business visits etc. are held to standards and actions are followed through

Education

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas (Required), Master’s Degree
