Maamba Energy Limited (MEL) is jointly owned by Nava Global Pte. Limited and ZCCM-IH PIC. The Company owns and operates a large-scale coal mine and has also constructed and operates a 300 Mega Watt Coal Fired Power Plant to cater for the growing demand for power in Zambia.

About this Role

We are looking for a bold and driven HR Business Partner to join our team in Maamba. This is a strategic role where you not only provide day-to-day HR business support but also play a pivotal role in executing key initiatives that align workforce planning, functional leadership, culture, and talent building. The role requires hands-on experience, innovation, resilience, and a business partnering mindset.

Qualifications & Experience

5+ years of formal work experience, with at least 3 years in HR management or HR support.

Strong grasp of local labour laws, HR regulations, and best practices.

Must be a registered member of ZIEH.

Experience managing end-to-end recruitment, plus project or organizational change experience.

Business partnering experience is an added advantage.

Strong stakeholder management, change management, and leadership abilities

  • Shape the HR environment: Translate strategic objectives into actionable HR initiatives that support functional goals.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment processes: Support talent acquisition, onboarding, and integration.
  • Provide employee relations and support: Handle employee grievances, discipline, conflict resolution, and ensure compliance with labor laws and internal policies.
  • Lead performance management: Promote a high-performance culture through KPIs, appraisals, and talent development frameworks.
  • Support learning and development: Drive training needs assessments, onboarding programs, and continuous skill development.
  • Support change management initiatives: Improve culture and organizational transformation.
  • Ensure HR operations efficiency: Maintain employee records, HRIS data, payroll coordination support, and HR reporting.
  • Promote employee engagement initiatives and staff wellness programs to enhance motivation and retention.
  • Provide guidance to line managers: Offer advisory services with empathy and professionalism.
