Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Instrumentation Supervisor – (Fixed Term Contract) to join the Mineral Resources Department. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Instrumentation Coordinator, you will support the Instrumentation Coordinator regarding the day-to-day Geotechnical and hydrogeological supervision, maintenance, and optimization of hydrogeology and geotechnical instrumentation across the mine site. To be a hands-on leader who ensures high equipment availability, accurate data collection, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to mentor and develop a team of technicians
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of instrumentation technicians and contractors to ensure timely maintenance, servicing, and calibration of equipment.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to operational procedures and safety standards.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to team members, fostering professional growth and skills development.
- Oversee adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all ground and slope performance monitoring devices (Radars, Total Stations, VWPs, prisms) are operational, serviced, and maintained
- Oversee the inspection, cleaning, and calibration of monitoring systems such as slope monitoring radars, robotic total stations, blast vibration monitors, and borehole flow meters
- Monitor equipment health and generate daily system status reports for management.
- Coordinate with the survey team to maintain optimal prism monitoring system availability.
- Liaise with OEMs and suppliers, ensuring that service contracts are current and that any technical issues are escalated promptly.
- Maintain adequate stock of spare parts, maintenance kits, and dewatering pumps to prevent downtime.
- Oversee service and performance optimization of dewatering pumps and ensure spare equipment is available when required.
- Ensure data loggers on all vibrating wire piezometers are functional and well-maintained.
- Be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the tea.
- Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures, and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner
- Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in LMC’s mining activities, consistent with Barrick’s community Relations Policies
- Ensure effective communication with delegate prior departure from site
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
- Degree/Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation/Electronic Engineering
- Minimum Five (5) years’ working experience. With last Two (2) years in a supervisory role
- Member of The Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)
- Competent in incident/accident investigation
- Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and show a commitment to understand local culture and impart your mining operations and technical knowledge to the local Zambian mine operations personnel
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
- Leadership and team management skills
