Reporting to the Country Manager, Local Content Manager will ensure the company complies with national local content regulations by maximizing the use of local suppliers. The Local Content Manager will work with the Country Manager to continue to improve relationships with the mining commission and local content committees.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Monitor and ensure 100% compliance with local content regulations regarding local content requirements.
- Report on overall local content compliance and effectively communicate progress to the local content committees or mining commission
- Together with the site teams and Country Manager drive the strategic initiatives around our local content compliance and implementation plans to ensure completion within agreed timeframes
- Ensure Quarterly and Annual local content plans and reports are comprehensive and submitted to the local content committees within setout timelines
- To prepare quarterly economic contribution reports for the board and communicate to stakeholders, advocating favorable policies
- Recording and tracking all submissions and correspondence with the Mining Commission relating to local content matters and compliance with the Laws and Regulations
- Communicate and motivate the sole source requirement for specialized skills or requirements on an annual and ad-hoc basis with the local content teams to ensure complete understanding of the risk and requirements to ensure continuity in the business
- Ensure all tenders are communicated to the local content teams in a timely manner prior to submission to ensure alignment with expected local content requirements and ensuring no delays that could affect the operations or projects.
- Â Maintain strong working relationships with the local content departments acting as the primary liaison between the operational, regional and government teams.
- Remain up to date with any changes in regulations to be communicated and pro-actively with all stakeholders to ensure complianceÂ
- Champion Supplier Development initiatives together with site teams and selected local suppliers, with a key focus on Companies around the mines
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Country Manager and AME Supply Chain Team
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Law, Accounting or related field or equivalent
- Five (5) years of directly related contracting & procurement experience or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Experience in local content management
- Experience in negotiations related to contractual conflict resolution.
- Experience in Supplier Development programs
