Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all safety related programs are in place and complied to as required by the client and Kascco.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental protocols to ensure the safety of all personnel on site.
  • Conduct safety training, and audits to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Respond to and investigate any incidents, accidents, or safety violations, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure that all work complies with Zambian Mining Regulations, as well as any specific industry standards.
  • Ensuring OEM’s are providing quality workmanship, reporting, and full life cycle maintenance for the new equipment.
  • Ensuring relocated equipment (and new equipment once the initial period is over) is properly maintained to ensure full life is obtained.
  • Ensuring availability is maintained above contractual targets to avoid contractual penalties for poor availabilities.
  • Ensure that all work performed meets the quality standards to best industry practice and where required develop and implement quality control measures to monitor and maintain high-quality maintenance standards.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and expenses to ensure they remain within the allocated budget.
  • Prepare and submit invoices, cost reports, and financial documentation as required.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Management and Leadership of both OEM’s and Kascco employees.
  • Leadership of the team comprised of contractors, and Kascco employees made up of expatriates, artisans, and various skill level personnel.
  • Coaching and mentoring employees.
  • Foster a safe, positive, and productive working environment to motivate and guide team members.
  • Working with other Managers, the client, and Senior Kascco personnel to ensure alignment of expectations and requirements between the teams.
  • Provide regular progress updates, reports, and documentation to the Kascco management team and internal stakeholders promptly and responsibility.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or the equivalent is essential.
  • To be accepted as a member with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
  • To obtain a Zambian Visa, if required.
  • At least 5 years at a similar level role.
  • Experience with Liebherr excavators, and Caterpillar 789 trucks.
  • Ability to “think on your feet”, to create solutions for problems encountered, and to work within a tight budget.
  • Driver’s License.
  • Experience working with or for an OEM.
  • Experience with Komatsu, Bell, Caterpillar, Hitachi, and Liebherr mining equipment.
  • Experience working in Zambia or Africa.
  • Experience with AMT, Sage, and condition monitoring software.
