The Board of the Local Authorities Superannuation Fund (LASF) invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of Managing Director of the Fund.
1. Job Purpose
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the management of the Fund in order to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives, sustainability and business continuity of the institution.
Key Result Areas and Accountabilities
- Directs effectively the formulation and implementation of Strategic Plan in order to set an operational framework for the Fund and ensure achievement of set objectives
- Oversees effectively the development, implementation and review of corporate-wide policies in order to provide guidance in service provision.
- Directs effectively the delivery of the Pensions Administration function in order to ensure compliance to statutory obligations
- Supervises effectively the Finance and Investments functions in order to ensure sustainability and business continuity
- Oversees effectively corporate services functions in order to facilitate smooth operation and enhance organisational performance
- Oversees Enterprise Risk Management in order to achieve set objectives, ensure business continuity and facilitate policy decisions.
- Oversees effectively management of financial, human and other resources in order to achieve Institutional objectives.
- Provides effective leadership in timely implementation of performance management systems for a productive and harmonious work environment to ensure attainment of the Fund’s objectives.
- Oversees the monitoring and evaluation of Fund’s programmes in order to develop and implement intervention measures
- Superintends effectively the audit of governance, operational and compliance systems in order to ensure effective and efficient internal control environment
Tenure
The successful applicant shall be appointed on a five (5) year renewable performance-based contract.
Qualification and Experience
- Full Grade 12 Certificate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or any related field
- Professional qualification in Pensions Management or any other equivalent qualifications
- Master’s in Business Administration or any other related field
- Minimum of ten (10) years relevant experience at senior management level
- Good knowledge and understanding of the pension industry
Desirable Competencies
- Ability to drive organisational performance for sustainability and business continuity
- Ability to engage with the Governing Board and other stakeholders to drive the governance agenda,
- A compelling vision of identifying opportunities for the Fund to improve strategic performance.
- Highly developed interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders
- Excellent analytical and planning skills for optimizing the accomplishment of strategic objectives
