Retail Job Opportunities – Lusaka
Our client in the retail industry is currently hiring suitable and experienced professionals to fill the following positions on a full-time basis:
Open Positions:
- Trainee Manager – K6,000 Gross
- Assistant Store Manager – K7,500 Gross
- Receiving Manager – K7,500 Gross
1. Trainee Manager
Location: Lusaka
Salary: K6,000 (Gross)
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct daily floor walks to check stock placement, price displays, and merchandising.
- Monitor shelf stock availability, coordinate with suppliers, and report delays or issues.
- Collaborate with merchandisers to manage stock levels, minimize losses and expiries.
- Implement FIFO (First-In, First-Out) system.
- Handle departmental transfers, production entries, and promotional displays.
- Address store maintenance issues and ensure overall hygiene.
- Maintain staffing levels and assist in recruitment processes.
- Supervise external merchandisers and maintain time records.
- Conduct internal staff training and routine team meetings.
- Assist cashiers with POS errors and monitor for any fraudulent activity.
- Support store leadership and report anomalies in system reports.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Prior experience in retail, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Good understanding of store operations, stock control, and merchandising.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Problem-solving, adaptability, and computer literacy are essential.
- Knowledge of FIFO inventory management is a must.
2. Assistant Store Manager
Location: Lusaka
Salary: K7,500 (Gross)
About the Role:
As the Assistant Store Manager, you will support day-to-day operations, deputize in the absence of the Store Manager, and ensure operational efficiency, staff supervision, and a high standard of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily store operations and ensure compliance with company procedures.
- Supervise and support store teams, including task delegation and performance tracking.
- Conduct sales analysis and propose operational improvements.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and staff scheduling.
- Handle stock management, inventory counts, and supplier coordination.
- Maintain visual merchandising and store cleanliness.
- Ensure customer satisfaction, manage complaints, and foster a customer-first culture.
- Oversee cash management and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure health, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Report on store performance and key operational metrics.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years in a similar position in a retail environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and POS systems.
- Strong retail operations knowledge, including stock, merchandising, and customer service.
- Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines.
3. Receiving Manager
Location: Lusaka
Salary: K7,500 (Gross)
Overview:
The Receiving Manager ensures the accuracy, security, and efficiency of all stock received into the store and upholds proper documentation and compliance in line with SOPs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise all receiving processes and ensure timely, accurate stock intake.
- Verify incoming stock against purchase orders and invoices.
- Prevent acceptance of expired or short-dated items; maintain expiry records.
- Prepare claims for damaged, short-delivered, or incorrect items.
- Capture GRNs and invoices daily and manage uploads for approval.
- Maintain a detailed and organized receiving register.
- Minimize truck turnaround times and manage receiving team schedules.
- Implement and monitor FIFO stock movement.
- Identify excess or slow-moving stock and coordinate returns or transfers.
- Ensure storage protocols are followed for fragile and perishable goods.
- Maintain a clean, organized receiving area with proper documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Prior experience in inventory or receiving management, preferably in retail.
- Strong knowledge of FIFO, inventory control, and stock handling procedures.
- Proficient in stock reporting tools and systems.
- Strong attention to detail and leadership ability.
- Understanding of product categorization, especially perishables.
