Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Officer, Reconciliations, Suspense to join our team in Lusaka, Zambia. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and resolving suspense accounts, performing reconciliations, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Conduct daily reconciliations of suspense accounts and identify discrepancies
- Perform daily reconciliation and monitoring of all digital products (debit card, credit card, NFS E-Money, and POS acquiring)
- Investigate and resolve unreconciled items in a timely manner
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation for all reconciliation processes
- Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary information and resolve issues
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce suspense account balances
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
- Generate regular reports on reconciliation status and outstanding items
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
- Participate in special projects and ad-hoc analyses as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2-3 years of experience in reconciliations or related financial roles
- Proficiency in financial reconciliation processes and accounting principles
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial software and systems
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of banking and financial services industry preferred
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus
- Demonstrated time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong understanding of internal controls and regulatory requirements in the financial sector
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
