Marie Stopes Zambia (MSZ) is a marketing-focused, results-oriented social enterprise, which uses modern management and marketing techniques to provide family planning and reproductive healthcare. Key Responsibilities

Successful delivery and expansion of CAC services through the public sector.

  • Mentors all MSZ trained Public CAC providers in CAC and FP services
  • Supervises and supports all MSZ Trained Public CAC providers
  • Prepare and update client tracking profiles for respective areas especially on family planning and Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC).
  • Works hand in hand with the district CAC focal person in the provision of mentorship and technical support to providers
  • Prepare referral plans for other long acting and permanent methods if individuals or couples wish to use those services and keep the track of referred clients.
  • Prepare monthly work plans in consultation with Health Facility In-charge and the district CAC focal Person
  • Prepare monthly work plan and work accomplished report and submit to health facility.
  • Submit monthly report to MSZ and work with health facility staff to transfer service delivery reports into HMIS.
  • Validates data before submission to MoH and MSZ.
  • As per need, make requests and collect CAC and family planning devices.

Leadership and Development

Objective:  Energetic, innovative, capable and appropriately managed service delivery teams with frequent interaction between clinics.

  • Support the Facility staff (including the in-charge) to mobilize and promote CAC services.
  • Support the facility to Promote awareness regarding CAC and Family planning services at facility and community level.
  • Support public CAC providers, including performance monitoring and mentor individual providers in their skills as they provide CAC and FP services in order to promote personal development.
  • Set an example of outstanding professional behaviour in both internal and external relations with staff, key stakeholders and all partners.

Clinical Standards and Client Care 

Objective: High quality standards maintained, and client satisfaction achieved at all delivery sites.

  • Follow the system of health facility for waste management protocol to prevent infection, specifically after providing CAC/FP services.
  • As per need, make requests and collect family planning devices, on monthly basis to health facility.
  • Support the facility to maintain and ensure no stock out of the commodities.
  • Support CAC/FP providers to implement clinical guidelines and recommendations to ensure high quality service delivery and successful clinical audit scores
  • Support the facilities (in-charges) managing the governance (keeping records, protocols, client data confidentiality and providers’ copies of qualifications and practicing certificates)
  • Ensure that all CAC/FP providers under his/her supervision follow MSI/MoH protocols for all procedures, including Vocal Local, Infection Prevention and governance
  • Ensure that the rights and needs of clients are given priority and that clients are properly advised on their rights, treatment methods and options.
  • Provide technical support to CAC/FP providers to ensure up-to-date knowledge of CAC/ FP methods, correct client counselling, and drug dispensing practices.
  • Support CAC/FP providers to ensure safety, effective client flow, cleanliness, housekeeping that complies with MSI/MoH guidelines.

Systems Strengthening

Objective: A high standard of operational efficiency and effectiveness in MoH CAC/FP clinics with clear, transparent systems in place.

  • Support the district and facilities to coordinate and mobilize the relevant influential people and groups in the community to promote CAC, family planning and supportive social norms around CAC family planning use as well as for wider community awareness and service access under CAC/FP program.
  • Support the district and facilities to establish strategic partnerships with other health stakeholders in the community to enhance diffusion and coverage including the family planning community health distributors, Male and community health champions, neighborhood and health centre committee, and any other health service providers.
  • Serve as bridge among the health facility staff, MoH, and MSZ
  • Routine follow up on all CAC/FP clinic providing CAC/FP service.
  • Routine follow up of clients receiving CAC/FP services in all CAC/FP clinics as per facility Client Logbook.
  • With the support of the PSS Lead, develop quarterly implementation plan for joint MoH and MSZ activities plan.
  • Ensures all that services are reported on monthly basis in HMIS are also reported to MSZ
  • Ensure that all CAC/FP clinics under his/her supervision follow strict, consistent and documented procedures relating to expenditure, and the management of stock, equipment and assets.
  • Conduct regular supportive visits to CAC/FP clinics, including spot checks on accuracy and completeness of records (clinical client records) and cross-checking of volume of services, and supplies consumed.
  • Conduct monthly audit of facility Stock Management and Supply chain.
  • Ensures compliance with MSZ/MoH supply chain management requirements
  • Enforcement of stock management tool (stock cards)
  • Ensures that all CAC/FP clinics have necessary supplies and equipment to carry out planned activities; and prevent stock-out of supplies and drugs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum degree in clinical medicine, BSC Nursing, Diploma in Clinical Science, Nursing and Midwifery
  • Experience in Sexual Reproductive Health Related services including CAC.
  • Experience with managing roles.
  • At least 2 years post-study experience in a relevant position [ESSENTIAL]
  • Experience of working in Sexual and Reproductive Health [ESSENTIAL]
  • Excellent provider-client interaction skills [ESSENTIAL]
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English; and knowledge of one or more local languages [ESSENTIAL]
  • Interest in developing independent business [ESSENTIAL]
  • Work experience with Zambian Health Service and/or an NGO [DESIRABLE]
  • Articulate and analytical with attention to detail [ESSENTIAL]
  • Knowledge of health delivery system in Zambia [DESIRABLE].
