The procurement Manager will be responsible to overseeing the entire procurement process, ensuring the company acquires goods and services efficiently and cost-effectively to meet operational needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Source new suppliers and vendors, negotiate favourable terms, and place orders for goods and services to realise the best value for the company.
- Develop, manage, and maintain suppliers’ contracts to ensure compliance and value for money.
- Implement strategies to reduce costs and identify opportunities for procurement savings.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and ensure smooth supply chain operations.
- Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and improve service delivery.
- Liaise with stores and end-users to manage inventory levels effectively.
- Facilitate the shipping, trucking, and transportation of goods.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and local and international regulations.
- Generate monthly procurement reports, identify trends, and report on unusual items.
- Develop and implement necessary policies to ensure smooth running of the department.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related field is often preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement, with at least 2 years in Management role.
- Member of the Zambia Institute of procurement and Supply (ZIPS)
- Proficiency in procurement and software and Microsoft office suite.
Soft skills:
a) Strong negotiation, communication skills and interpersonal skills.
b) Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
c) Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
d) Meticulous attention to details
Diploma/certificate in industrial Engineering will be an added advantage
