HAIL & COTTON, a leading global tobacco leaf merchant, are currently recruiting for their Zambia Operations. The following positions are vacant.

REGIONAL SUPERVISOR

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the field team, supply chain professionals, and other relevant teams to ensure the seamless integration of farmer financing with agronomy operations calendar.
  • Produce routine financial reports and presentations to effectively convey the performance of the IPS farmers to both management and stakeholders.
  • Assuming a prominent role in the development and execution of grower loan distribution and collection strategies aimed at mitigating risk exposure
  • Deliver agronomic extension services and provide financial support to smallholder farmers.
  • Attend pre-season departmental meetings and recommend adjustments to input quantities.
  • Facilitate grower selection and registration, including identifying potential growers
  • Ensure signing of contracts between growers and the company.
  • Provide agronomic advice to small holder growers.
  • Support debt recovery efforts in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Monitor field operations and prepare detailed reports for submission to the Agronomy Manager.
  • Assist with mopping, marketing and selling of tobacco bales
  • Coordinate with the Head of Agronomy to plan and execute input distribution to growers
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, training, and team development initiative
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • To establish departmental goals in collaboration with Agronomy Director – Africa, Head of Agronomy and Finance under the guidance of the Managing Director.
  • To develop project scopes, budgets, benchmarks, and schedules.
  • Strong research, decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are key.
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and ESG initiatives through routine meetings and interactions with contracted growers
  • Ensuring IPS growers adhere to ESG guidelines for productivity and sustainability.
  • Overseeing the successful implementation of the Forestry Projects and takes remedial action if required in line with the agreed Project Plan.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum qualification BSc of Agriculture.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in tobacco operations, logistics and supply chain management.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strategic planning and execution.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and resilience under pressure.
  • Knowledge of agricultural supply chains (preferred).
