Start Date:

To be Communicated upon selection

Responsibilities or duties

  • Provide first aid and basic medical care to learners and staff.
  • Assess, manage, and document illnesses and injuries occurring at school.
  • Administer prescribed medication in accordance with medical guidelines and parental consent.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and confidential health information.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate referrals to healthcare facilities.
  • Promote hygiene, nutrition, and general health education within the school.
  • Ensure the school sick bay is clean, safe, and well-equipped.
  • Advise school management on health and safety policies.
  • Uphold safeguarding, child protection, and infection prevention standards.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding learners’ health concerns.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing (General Nursing, Registered Nurse, or equivalent).
  • Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Zambia (NMCZ).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of child health, infection control, and emergency response.

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in nursing (school or paediatric experience is an added advantage).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassionate, calm, and professional demeanour.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and accurate records.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, ethics, and professional standards.
