JOB DETAILS:

SPECIFIC CONTEXT OF THE ROLE
The specific context for this role is:
The Sector Lead – Industry and Manufacturing will collaborate across Prospero sectors to identify synergies and identify partnership opportunities within and across initiatives to produce integrated, strategic, and leveraged initiative delivery plans for inclusive economic growth at scale.


3. SCOPE OF WORK

Strategy:
• Develop annual sector strategies and implementation plans for the sector.
• Ensure Initiative Managers and Associates and other key stakeholders are fully versed with Prospero strategy and goals
• Ensure detailed initiative strategies, work plans, and partnerships adhere to Prospero overall strategy and timelines
• Contribute to development of M&E frameworks and initiative results chains
• Develop and nurture strategic intervention partner relationships
• Collaborate with other Sector Leads to identify opportunities for collaboration and cross-sector linkages
Knowledge management, communications, and reporting:
• Support information and communication assets gathering (stories, photographs, etc.) from the earliest stages of interventions
• Regularly create content for Prospero’s outward facing communication efforts
• Ensure that regular reporting is complete and on-time (quarterly and annual reports, as well as annual review contributions)
• Ensure that M&E data is used to for learning and decision-making.

Administration:
• Review and approve grant and contract agreements
• Review and approve grant milestone/contract deliverable completion documentation
• Review and approve financial forecasting of expected sector spend
People Management
· Directly supervise the staff under his or her section with the following key areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
o Participate in the recruitment of staff especially in the sector
o Lead staff training initiatives and manage staff inductions in the sector
o Advise and take action where necessary on any staff performance challenges, including disciplinary actions in the sector
o Oversee the process of staff performance management, including scheduling appraisals and objective setting/measurement for staff in the sector
• Ensure Initiative Managers and Associates are familiar with and adhere to Prospero grant/contract mechanisms and procurement rules (in collaboration with the Grants and Contracts Supervisor)
• To supervise the Initiative Managers and Associates in ensuring that the ToRs for proposals/other grant solicitation mechanisms for initiative activities are developed and successfully undertaken.
• Monitoring performance and guiding implementation strategy of Initiative Managers and Associates

Additional responsibilities as required in support of Prospero’s work:

· Cover for colleagues who are on leave or absent
· Duty to report any suspicion of fraud or unethical activity
· Any other tasks as requested by manager/supervisor

4. REQUIRED/DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate must have a master’s degree in business management or similar qualification with at least 8 years management experience in supply chain development and SME development in the manufacturing sector, including sustainable businesses and industries focused on climate adaptation and mitigation. Additionally, they must have experience working with international organisations and donors.

Job Competencies
· Knowledge and understanding of the political economy of the Zambian manufacturing sector.
· Experience in a managerial role (within NGO, donor funded project, government, government agency) of private sector development or economic development consultancy working directly with private sector partners.
· Experience of interacting with private sector partners at a senior operations/board level.
· Experience of managing a large budget (budgeting, forecasting, procurement, contract management, reporting).
· Approximately 8+ years professional work experience, with evidence of gradually increasing responsibilities.

· Able to develop and communicate a comprehensive strategy based on an in-depth understanding of the sector as a whole, the state-of-the sector in Zambia and internal and external capacity
Leadership and Team Management
· Skilled team manager and team player
· Demonstrated leadership skills
· Able to build capacity of staff: training, coaching, and mentoring
· Can lead effectively by example
Planning & Coordination
· Provide strategic leadership within the sector and develop project plans and interventions following the required standards
· Ability to coordinate well with technical and operational staff
· Build and maintain extensive stakeholder networks across the Sector that provide insight into the state of the industry and its critical development needs and provide intervention opportunities.
· Ability to act in an advisory and expert role to the Prospero team in matters relating to the sector
Negotiation
· Able to manage external stakeholder relationships
· Ability to resolve conflict
· Can negotiate effectively to deliver value for money
Compliance
· Ability to follow Prospero implementing procedures and overall compliance
Writing and editing
· Ability to publish articles, blogs, and tweets
· Ability to draft project plans, intervention approval requests etc
· Attention to detail
Administration
· Ability to monitor and keep track of all program and contractual deadlines
· Excellent hard copy and electronic record keeping skills
· Highly organised and computer literate
· Process driven
