Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly motivated and committed employee for the position of Senior Communications Specialist to join the versatile Lumwana Learning & Development department. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to Superintendent – L&D Administration, the Senior Communications Specialist will responsible for building a strong, visible, and engaging Learning & Development (L&D) brand within Lumwana Mine. This role ensures employees understand, value, and actively participate in training initiatives by creating clear communications, managing events, gathering unbiased feedback, and showcasing results. The position serves as the storyteller and engagement driver for L&D, making sure the department’s work is visible, valued, and impactful.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Transform raw data into clear, visually appealing reports for management, employees, and stakeholders.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual L&D performance summaries.
- Develop infographics, dashboards, and presentations that highlight L&D’s impact on safety, productivity, and capability.
- Ensure that 100% of L&D reports are delivered on time and meet clarity/accuracy standards.
- Design and manage all feedback collection tools (surveys, focus groups, interviews) for training programs, events, and L&D initiatives.
- Ensure feedback collection is independent from program owners (e.g., Readiness Superintendent, Performance Superintendent) to avoid bias.
- Work with the Systems, Data & Innovation Superintendent to digitize feedback forms and analyse responses.
- Provide structured, anonymized reports to relevant superintendents for improvement planning.
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver all L&D events, including:
- Develop and maintain a monthly L&D newsletter highlighting upcoming programs, success stories, and recognition moments.
- Create training promotion campaigns to drive participation.
- Manage the L&D section on the company intranet and update content regularly.
- Draft and distribute internal memos, posters, and email campaigns related to training initiatives.
- Work with the Corporate Communications team to share L&D success stories on internal and approved external platforms.
- Post about graduations, awards, and innovations to boost Barrick & L&D’s public image.
- Maintain a consistent tone of voice and alignment with company brand guidelines.
- Design and manage recognition programs that celebrate learning achievements (e.g., “Trainer of the Month,” “Top Learner Awards”).
- Coordinate with Systems, Data & Innovation for award data and eligibility criteria.
- Present awards during events and in communications materials.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate
- Bachelor’s degree in any Mass Communications or any related field
- Graphic design skill an added advantage
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Public Relations or Similar.
- Good computer skills with the ability to use integrate management systems, word processing, Presentation, and spreadsheet applications
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
