Kagem is seeking remarkable candidates to join the team in the position of Senior Manager Planning
Senior Manager Planning (x 1)
Reports to: Head Mining
Job Purpose:
To develop and implement mine planning strategy. The job incumbent provides systematic mine planning support for mine operations with emphasis to produce short to medium term planning, mine layouts and production schedules. Review progress, consolidate and provide reports on progress and future plans.
Key Result Areas & Accountabilities
- Ensure the development and implementation of the planning strategy to optimize the development of operational pits and Bulk Sampling Programs to commercially viable projects
Systematic Mine Planning support for all operational pirs, bulk sampling programs and exploration planning for Gemstone prospects.
- Provide advice to exploration ream on scheduling of borehole locations, collation of Geology Data, Drill data compilation and preparation of Geological plans and sections.
- Responsible for updating all mine plans and geological maps for the purpose of mine planning and scheduling.
- Ensure the planning and production support at all pits including bulk sampling sites together with Mine/Dump Planning and designing, scheduling, and mapping of the same
- Ensure that all mine surveying works are effectively done, and subsequent reports produced and mapped to aid mine planning.
- All survey assistance given to mining teams for proper execution.
- Producing short and medium term mine planning layouts and production schedules including resource and equipment requirements for mining final products and planning of management of Waste Dumps
- Ensure the timely production of relevant periodical reports, plans schedules in order to aid management decision making
- Review all mining and hulk sampling and survey reports and consolidate weekly and monthly reports to aid management decisions.
- Contribute towards continuous improvement of all processes and systems by implementing improvements in performance for the projects
- Provide quality leadership to the planning team to ensure that they are sufficiently trained and developed to improve the performance of all members
- Ensure availability of required resources with full utilization to accelerate the achievement of planning objectives
Professional Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Geology, Mining Engineering or Mineral Resource Management.
- Master’s degree may be an added advantage.
- Ten (10) years of work experience in mine planning or production department or in mining related industry. Preferably, with mine planning responsibilities, for at least 5 years.
- Field experience and exposure with strong exposure to mine operations and technologies
- Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZQA) certificate of verification and evaluation of qualification will be required before the job offer
Skills, Knowledge & Characteristics
- Strong familiarity with project management skills.
- Working experience in Ms Project and mining software.
- High level of commercial/financial acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and evaluation skills.
- Good command of both oral and written communication.
- Possession of good leadership skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent knowledge of the current mining regulations.
- At least 5 years of GIS (ArcGIS, AutoCAD) and Mine Planning (Surpac) experience
- Computer and MS Office proficiency.
- Must have current certification from EIZ.

Facilitates the recruitment process of expatriate employees and participates in job interviews for local jobs. Ensures that visitors and senior managers are housed in clean and hygiene environments with all required facilities in place Supervises all housekeeping and guest house staff to ensure that they are efficient and presentable all the time
Good computer skills Good command of both oral and written communication Possession of good leadership skills Ability to work with minimum supervision Excellent public relations and interpersonal skills
Grade 12 certificate Diploma/Degree in Management Studies/Business administration/Social sciences or any other related field 6 years’ work experience in a similar position Experience in providing secretarial services to executives an added advantage Good experience in networking with stakeholders Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZQA) certificate of verification and evaluation of qualification will be required before the job offer
