We are seeking a dedicated, organised, and hands‑on Steward Supervisor to lead our stewarding team and ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and back‑of‑house excellence that support our world‑class guest experience.

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Stewarding Supervisor to join our team in Kafue, Zambia. As a key member of our hospitality operations, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness, efficiency, and smooth functioning of our stewarding department.

Responsibilities or duties

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the stewarding department
  • Supervise, train, and schedule stewarding team members
  • Ensure proper implementation of cleaning systems and methods
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness for facilities and equipment
  • Enforce health and safety standards, including proper chemical handling and storage
  • Manage equipment inventory, minimize breakages, and control storage
  • Lead and drive energy conservation and environmental initiatives
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain excellent customer service
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Implement and maintain proper documentation and record-keeping procedures
  • Develop and implement cost-effective strategies to optimize stewarding operations
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of supplies and equipment
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members
  • Participate in budget planning and monitor departmental expenses
  • Stay updated on industry trends and implement innovative stewarding practices to enhance operational efficiency
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for stewarding equipment
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to address concerns, share updates, and boost team morale
  • Collaborate with the People and Culture department for recruitment and onboarding of new stewarding staff
  • Implement and oversee a quality assurance program to maintain consistent standards across all shifts

Qualifications or requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a stewarding team, preferably within a luxury lodge, hotel, or resort.
  • Relevant Certificate/Diploma.
  • Fill grade 12 certificate
  • Previous team‑lead or supervisory experience is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of cleaning processes, sanitation protocols, and kitchen operations.
  • Good organisational and communication skills with an eye for detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced, high‑standards environment.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working on your feet for extended periods.
  • Willingness to live and work in a remote safari environment.
