Responsibilities or duties

1. Ensure that all TCE systems are adequately maintained as per procedures and client requirements.

2. Conduct daily and monthly inspections of all toll collection equipment, traffic management peripherals within the toll plaza, validation cameras and treadle reports.

3. Analyze and resolve technical issues and respond to queries timeously.

4. Ensure that all system support requests are attended to and recorded timeously through the prescribed methods.

5. Oversee and manage new equipment installations, replacement of old equipment and repairs in accordance with regulatory guidelines and company procedure.

6. Report all incidents in the prescribed manner.

7. Keep record of all inspections in the prescribed manner and submit reports timeously to management.

8. Provide support and assistance to other departments as and when required to ensure customer service satisfaction and efficiency.

9. Coordinate with operational/technical departments to provide guidance on performance and execution of duties within the TCE environment.

10. Maintain relationships with stakeholders (internal/external) in order to effectively deliver technical advice and meet expectations

11. Compile and submit ad hoc reports as required by Management.

12. Keep record off all company tools and ensure that tools are kept in a good and clean working order.

13. Keep all TCE asset registers updated in accordance with company procedure.

14. Monitor and keep record of all TCE equipment and ensure that adequate spares are kept on site.

15. Assist with procurement of tools and spares as required.

16. Ensure all health, safety and security policies and procedures are always followed.

17. Comply with all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the Company.

18. Ensure that all equipment will be in good working order to ensure the Company can comply with all contractual obligations.

19. To perform overtime and standby duties as required.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • The daily physical demands are those required to work on the route, inside, outside and on top of buildings/ladders.
  • The Technician must be able to work in tunnels underground.
  • The Technician must be able to work at heights.
  • The Technician must drive a motor vehicle according to standards on public roads.
  • A regular amount of overtime and standby duties to be performed.
  • The work environment characteristics are those encountered on a typical highway and at the toll road environment, as well as at office buildings.
  • The work is performed inside and outside buildings.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Required competencies to meet the job outcomes:

  • Fluent in English
  • Excellent communication skills (written & oral)
  • Interpersonal relationship skills
  • Self-management
  • Expert knowledge of electronics and wiring
  • Expert knowledge of validation cameras
  • Excellent fault-finding skills
  • Good electronic installation skills
  • Good knowledge of electricity
  • Planning and follow through of maintenance activities
  • Good computer literacy skill
  • Good data analysis skills
  • Attention to detail

Minimum requirements:

Education & Experience (minimum requirements to perform the job):

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Technical Diploma in Electronics (or any related further qualification)
  • At least 3 to 5 years related experience
  • In-depth knowledge of processes and rules together with the MIS Electronic Toll Collection System
  • Understanding of relevant procedures such as: Environmental, health and safety, compliance and good housekeeping practices Procedure manuals, Understanding of Supervisory responsibilities/functions
  • Member of the EIZ or Member of the EIZ or Affiliation to a relevant professional body

TENURE

The position is on a fixed Term renewable contract.
