The opportunity

EY is looking for a Senior Tax Consultant to join our Global Compliance and Reporting (GCR) practice. In this role, you will support the management of day-to-day operations related to client engagements and contribute to the core Accounting & compliance functions.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a portfolio of clients, prioritizing tasks, and managing multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Support the end-to-end tax audit process for clients, including liaising with auditors and clients, following up on audit issues, and managing correspondence with tax authorities.
  • Ensure clients’ compliance with Zambian tax requirements, including Income Tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax, Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), and other statutory obligations.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver high-quality tax compliance services, ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Provide ongoing support to clients regarding day-to-day tax compliance and reporting queries.
  • Assist in the accurate preparation and submission of tax returns and statutory filings to the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA).
  • Stay informed about evolving Zambian tax laws, statutory instruments, and international tax trends.
  • Support the training and mentoring of junior staff on technical tax matters and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in compliance with regulatory requirements and firm policies.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CIMA, ZICA, or equivalent.
  • All academic qualifications must be ZAQA certified.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Zambian tax framework, including Income Tax Act, Property Transfer Tax Act, VAT Act, Transfer Pricing regulations, and other relevant statutes
  • Minimum of 3 years related work experience
  • Work experience in an ERP environment would be preferred
