Role Summary

The National Training Manager will be responsible for building the training function from the ground up to support d.light in Zambia. This role requires a dual focus:

  • Strategic Leadership – designing scalable training systems, processes, and infrastructure (including leveraging mobile-first LMS platforms) that align with sales growth objectives.
  • Hands-On Execution – directly delivering training to sales teams and agents in the field to ensure immediate operational effectiveness.

The role demands an entrepreneurial leader who can balance vision-setting with on-the-ground delivery, while laying the foundation for a robust training organization that will expand as the market matures.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Training Leadership

  • Conduct regular training needs analyses to determine relevant and cost-effective training solutions for field teams.
  • Design and implement a scalable training strategy and roadmap, including a monthly rolling training calendar aligned with business objectives.
  • Institutionalize a mobile-first LMS platform for consistent and accessible training delivery across regions.
  • Create standardized training processes, manuals, and content libraries, ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with company standards.
  • Establish and track training KPIs, linking training effectiveness to sales performance, customer satisfaction, and business growth.
  • Collaborate with HR and Sales leadership to align training programs with recruitment, onboarding, and staff development initiatives.

Operational Training Delivery

  • Deliver field and classroom-based training sessions for sales agents, and commercial teams, especially during the early market stages.
  • Lead onboarding and induction programs for new hires and agents, ensuring fast ramp-up to performance.
  • Coach and mentor sales managers and future trainers to ensure continuous development and readiness to scale.
  • Support recruitment and training of sales agents, ensuring consistent application of criteria and tracking performance outcomes.
  • Continuously evaluate and update training tools and content to maximize impact (e.g., LMS modules, Training App, job aids).

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Partner with Head of Sales and Regional Business Managers to ensure training is embedded into operational rhythms.
  • Prepare and present monthly training performance reports, covering training hours and penetration rates.
  • Monitor trainer journey plans, budgets, and delivery effectiveness as the training team expands.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales & Marketing, Business Administration, Education, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in training, learning & development, or sales enablement.
  • Proven track record in building training programs from scratch in growth or entrepreneurial environments.
  • Strong knowledge of LMS platforms, particularly mobile-first solutions for field-based teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, and evaluate training programs that drive measurable performance outcomes.
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and presentation skills with fluency in English and Bemba/Nyanja.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and adapt in fast-changing environments.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across regions.
