Background

Little Bird is searching for friendly, energetic, and professional Waiters and Waitresses to provide exceptional dining experiences for our guests. You are the direct link between our kitchen's culinary creations and our patrons, and your friendly demeanor and efficient service will be a core part of our restaurant’s reputation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Interaction & Service: Greet guests promptly and warmly as they are seated. Present menus, inform guests of daily specials, and answer questions regarding food and beverages (including ingredients for dietary concerns/allergies). Take food and drink orders accurately using a POS system and relay them to the kitchen and bar staff. Serve food and beverages efficiently and professionally, ensuring timeliness and presentation standards are met.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Check on guests throughout their meal to ensure satisfaction, anticipate their needs, and promptly address any issues or requests. Clear tables, reset dining areas efficiently, and ensure the dining room remains clean and organized.
  • Sales & Upselling: Upsell menu items, desserts, and drinks where appropriate to enhance the guest experience and maximize revenue.
  • Cash Handling & Transactions: Deliver checks, process payments accurately (cash, credit cards), and thank guests upon departure. Reconcile daily sales transactions at the end of the shift.
  • Teamwork & Operations: Collaborate with hosts, bussers, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and seamless service flow. Complete assigned side work duties during and after shifts (e.g., refilling condiments, polishing cutlery, restocking server stations).

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Previous experience as a waiter, waitress, or in a customer service role within the hospitality industry is highly preferred.
  • Customer Focus: A genuinely friendly, outgoing personality with a strong commitment to hospitality and delivering a positive guest experience.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong attention to detail to ensure order accuracy and presentation quality. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. Basic math skills for handling payments and making change accurately. Familiarity with POS (Point of Sale) software (e.g., Toast, Aloha, Micros).
  • Availability: Flexibility to work various shifts, including lunch, dinner, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attitude: A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team-player mentality.
