The company is running a good fleet of trucks engaged in both dry and wet (fuel) cargo.
Therefore, the Company invites applications from highly motivated, result-oriented, suitably qualified and experienced professionals to fill the following vacancy:
Position: Workshop Manager
Report: Fleet: General Manager
Location: Lusaka
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Management:
- Supervise and manage all activities within the maintenance/workshop department.
- Oversee the daily operations of the workshop, including repair and maintenance of the fleet.
- Recruit, train, and lead a team of technicians and mechanics.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure efficient and high-quality work.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Ensure timely repairs and servicing of all vehicles to minimize downtime.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies, ensuring availability for maintenance and repairs.
- Establish procurement processes for necessary workshop supplies.
- Ensure the workshop and maintenance operations adhere to all safety regulations and HSSEQ standards.
- Conduct safety training and enforce safety protocols for all workshop personnel.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain high repair and maintenance standards.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure the quality of work.
- Monitor and control departmental expenses to optimize cost-effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining quality.
- Maintain workshop equipment and tools in good working order.
- Evaluate the need for upgrades or replacements as necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs for each vehicle.
- Provide regular reports on the condition of the fleet and workshop operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Diploma in Mechanics (degree will be added advantage)
- 5 years’ experience in Supervisory role
- Computer literacy is necessary, our workshop management system is Computer based.
- Experience in Volvo and Chinese Trucks will be added advantage
- Proven experience in maintenance and workshop management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Able to use diagnostic tools and software’s
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair processes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Good reporting skills
- Knowledge of HSSEQ standards and their application in workshop operations.
Work Hours: 8
Work experience six years in Supervisory role.
